Project and Risk Management

Project and Risk Management

Either in tandem with our strategy development and management services or as an independent engagement, we offer support to your management of risk, business continuity, and resilience as well as certified project management experience.

Project Management

Exactly what it says on the tin.  Fully qualified with internationally recognised certifications such as PRINCE2 and PMP, we are also widely experienced in the realities of routine operations.

It has been claimed that well over half of all projects initiated fail to meet their stated objectives. Price Waterhouse recently wrote that only 2.5% of organisations which deliver their projects internally do so on time, to budget, and to intended standards. Recognising this, we embed our approach in yours to focus and leverage our joint experience and expertise.

As with all our service lines, we won't simply apply a template and walk away, but we will tailor our project management approach to suit your organisation, your strategy, and your ways of working.

We de-mystify the technical talk around project management, whilst retaining the recognised stages of initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and project closure.

Risk Management

Risk Management is an often misunderstood discipline, but it can transform the way organisations make decisions and manage their operations. Enterprise Risk Management , integrating the whole organisation, is now an essential part of the landscape for large corporates but  can be tailored for used by organisations of every size. And it readily supports a 'learning' organisation with strategic focus.  We have long felt there is a clear relationship between strategy and risk management.

We help to identify and define the strategic, operational, and financial threats to your business, and analyse the likelihood and impact of their affecting your objectives. We will develop an understanding of what measures you should consider putting in place to reduce the likelihood and impact of such influences adversely affecting your operations, and use this knowledge to place you in a position of strength in managing them.

In an enduring relationship, we can then offer periodic reviews of how effectively your mitigation measures are being resourced and implemented, and where you continue to carry vulnerability. This approach provides proactive and cost effective focus for decision making and resource allocation.

Business Continuity and Resilience

Ensuring business continuity is about having plans to deal with potentially challenging circumstances so that your organisation can continue to function with as little disruption as possible.  It is closely linked to Risk Management.

We will help you to develop plans to increase your resilience from latent threats or to manage and recover from contingencies that could affect your routine operations. We can also assist in your accreditation to ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management Systems).

Particular areas of your business that might be vulnerable to disruption include supply chains, utilities, and information technology. We can provide an impact analysis tailored for your business and then assist by offering structured approaches to impact prevention that increase your resilience.

Crisis Management

Whilst business continuity measures will increase organisational resilience, training and readiness in crisis management provides the process through which contingencies can be most effectively managed should they occur. Linked to a similar threat analysis as conducted by our Risk Management practice, it also has a strong component of communications management and public relations.

Crisis management enables you to deal with the threat once it has occurred, and is about response time, when your organisation will be challenged to focus on an immediate issue that might adversely and significantly affect the business. And it will be further challenged to cope at short notice and at pace.

We will assist you to build management processes and structures held at readiness for contingency but without huge redundant overhead expense. We will ensure your ability to detect, contain, control, and then recover and learn from contingency events that might otherwise cause strategic levels of damage.

We can also manage exercises to familiarise your staff with potential roles and challenges, focused on crisis leadership, formation of crisis management teams, liaison with external agencies including first responders, media management, and stakeholder communication.
